STEP 3: RESTORATION

STEP 3: RESTORATION

restoration-God

God’s plan is to restore His glorious, Holy Kingdom back to earth. Jesus conquered the sin that corrupts our lives on the cross to restore people individually, restore society collectively and restore all of creation physically. How? It starts with turning to Jesus and then, through His power, turning away from your sin. This is what the Bible calls repentance.

We turn away from sin (explained in STEP 2) and turn back to God (explained in STEP 1) through trusting in Jesus and all He accomplished on the cross.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,”

ACTS 3:19

Priceless Anti-Virus Software

Let’s go back to our computer virus illustration. Imagine your computer is infected but the antivirus software is priceless. There is no way you can purchase it. You need someone with the means to acquire it. The Bible says that the wage of sin is death (Romans 6:23), meaning a spiritual death resulting in complete separation from God. Our disobedience has earned us a penalty we cannot escape without God’s help. Thankfully this verse continues that the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. He sacrificed His life, paying the price of death, and offers us eternal life in Christ Jesus.

God loves you so much that He sent His son Jesus to die for you, cancelling your debt of sin and defeating the enemy trying to tempt you to sin. He sacrificed His life, paying the price of death, and offers us the gift of eternal life.

The way you receive this gift is to reject sin, ask His forgiveness and put your trust in Him to save you from your sin.

return

God created you to be his representative in this world. The Bible calls this being made in God's image, see, for example, Colossians 3:10. Being made in God's image means that humans possess unique qualities that reflect God's nature, such as morality, love, and the ability to communicate.

Your purpose is to reign on behalf of God in this world. Through the cross of Jesus, He can restore you, accept you into His family, and give you citizenship in His kingdom. God has a wonderful plan and purpose for you.

Your purpose is for God's will and ways to be done in this broken world. He desires to work with you to establish His goodness, love, truth, and justice. Thus, His holy kingdom is established on earth as it is in heaven.

His promise is that one day Jesus will return and restore all of His creation and establish His rule on earth for eternity.

“...how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.”

ROMANS 5:17b

Ambassador

Have you ever been to an embassy. An embassy will have an ambassador, appointed to represent the authorities of the nation that appointed them. They will communicate and if necessary assert the will of the ruler they represent.

God is at work to restore all that is wrong with the world, the world He created but has been invaded by His enemy. Until He comes back, He is looking for people who can represent Him in this world, advancing His will and His way, to establish His rightful rulership. Where the will and the way of God is established it brings life, restoration and thriving once again.

If you put your trust in Jesus, He saves you from your sin and then saves you for a glorious purpose.

But first you must bow your knee to Him and receive Him as your King, your Lord and your saviour.
